Tattoo ink resides in the dermis, the deeper, stable layer of skin. Our formulations are designed to act only within the epidermis, the outer layer that does not carry ink.
Ink-Safe™. Always.
Above the ink
Our formulas are designed to work at the surface, refining the look of texture, clarity and resilience without disturbing your artwork.
We deliberately avoid harsh actives or ingredients that could interfere with or compromise pigment. Instead, every formula is made to care for the canvas, so your art stays vivid and defined.
Every formula is dermatologist approved and assessed for compatibility with leading professional ink brands, including Eternal Ink, Intenze, Fusion Ink, World Famous Tattoo Ink and Dynamic Color.
The banned list
Some ingredients common in traditional aftercare are, in our view, wrong for tattooed skin. We leave them out of every formula.
Heavy ointments can “suffocate” a fresh tattoo. We avoid occlusives that trap heat and moisture against the skin, so your skin can breathe while it heals.
We leave out potentially reactive scents such as lavender and citrus. They smell pleasant, but they can irritate freshly tattooed skin.
Lanolin is a common allergen in traditional aftercare and can clog pores, contributing to “tattoo pimples”. We leave it out to help keep healing skin calm and clear.
We use gentle PHAs (polyhydroxy acids) in place of harsher AHAs and BHAs. They resurface gently and are designed to stay well above the pigment.
The Ink-Safe™ standard
Our ingredients are chosen not to act as solvents on pigment. We leave out the penetration enhancers that can encourage “ink migration” or blurring over time.
Tattooed skin faces oxidative stress every day. We use Ectoin to help protect the skin from the environmental stress that contributes to fading.
Tattooing temporarily disrupts the skin’s natural balance. Our formulas are balanced to suit the skin’s natural acidity, around pH 5.5, helping keep it comfortable as it recovers.
Stage by stage

Stage 01
Tattoo Preparation Serum
In the epidermis, applied before tattooing on intact skin.
PRIME is used before tattooing, never on open or healing skin. It conditions the skin and does not interact with pigment.

Stage 02
Tattoo Ink Grip and Recovery Complex
On the surface of the epidermis, applied once the protective covering is removed.
LOCK acts only at the surface. It forms a breathable layer over freshly tattooed skin, helping keep it hydrated and comfortable while it heals, without disrupting the pigment held in the dermis below.

Stage 03
Tattoo Fade and Blur Defence Cream (SPF15)
On the surface of the epidermis, applied daily to healed tattoos. For long days outdoors, use SPF50+.
SHIELD uses next-generation organic UV filters (Octinoxate, Tinosorb M and Tinosorb S) that remain within the upper layers of the skin to help defend against UV and blue light exposure. These filters do not penetrate to the dermis where tattoo ink is located. Antioxidants such as resveratrol, vitamin E, vitamin C and Banksia extract further support skin defence within the epidermis, keeping the protective action at the surface level without interfering with tattoo pigment.

Stage 04
Tattoo Restoration Emulsion
In the epidermis, used on fully healed skin.
LUME works entirely within the uppermost skin layers. It gently resurfaces and hydrates without penetrating to the dermis, leaving ink untouched.
Tested in the studio
SKINGRAPHICA products are tested in real studio conditions for compatibility and performance with leading tattoo inks, including the following.
In this testing, no product disrupted pigment integrity, healing quality, colour retention or tone.
