01 · The story

100 artists. 26 countries. One standard.

Every year on 1 November, SKINGRAPHICA® names the 100 artists one tier below Black Ivy and awards each of them the GRAPHICA designation. It is the deepest bench in the SKINGRAPHICA® Global Artist Rankings, the list the industry reads to see who is next, and it is earned one way. By the work.

The 2026 list reflects work made and shown between 1 November 2025 and 1 November 2026, and nothing before it. 49 artists held their place from last year. 40 are ranked for the first time. 6 came up from the NOVA Rising 20 and 5 arrive from last year's Black Ivy. 45 artists who were in the Top 100 a year ago are not in it now. The list is a moment in time, and the standard does not soften because the list is long.

Our inspectors spent more than 3 months on the 2 lists, reviewing fresh and healed work, large-scale projects and the small pieces most artists never post, across every discipline from hyper-realism and colour portraiture to geometric blackwork, traditional Japanese, Korean illustration and tā moko. They consulted respected artists and industry experts along the way. The final decisions rest solely with SKINGRAPHICA®.

There is no number 1 and no number 100. The artists are listed alphabetically by surname or nickname and recognised as peers. Above them sit the Black Ivy Top 10, and every one of this year's 6 new Black Ivy artists came through this list. The NOVA Rising 20 runs on its own calendar and is announced each year on 1 February, so the rising artists it identifies can be considered for the Global Rankings published the following November.

How an artist earns GRAPHICA.

Full ranking criteria

Each artist is selected through independent, merit-based assessment of mastery and technical excellence, free from social or commercial influence.

Social media followings and digital footprint are not persuasive in determining placement. Assessment rests on artistic and professional merit, measured against the 6 criteria opposite. The same 6 criteria decide the Black Ivy Top 10. The difference between the 2 lists is the degree, not the standard. We consult with respected artists and industry experts, but final decisions rest solely with us.

SKINGRAPHICA® does not publish numerical rankings within the Top 100. Artists are listed alphabetically and recognised as peers. Ranked artists become eligible for complimentary membership of the SKINGRAPHICA® artist programme.

The SKINGRAPHICA® Global Artist Rankings are an independent editorial initiative. Inclusion is determined solely through editorial assessment and is not influenced by sponsorships, advertising, paid partnerships, product gifting or payments of any kind.
