The SKINGRAPHICA Global Artist Rankings were created to recognise the most exceptional tattoo artists in the world, individuals who have elevated tattooing from a craft to a celebrated art form. The rankings are an independent editorial initiative, curated through research, assessment, and cultural insight, to document and honour artistic excellence within the global tattoo community.

Across many industries, brands that are deeply connected to creative fields also celebrate the masters within them. L’Oréal honours inspiring women through Women of Worth, Nike showcases emerging athletes in Future 50, Red Bull recognises elite photographers through Illume, and Michelin - a tyre company - created the Michelin Guide, now the world’s most respected measure of culinary achievement. In the same spirit, SKINGRAPHICA honours artistry within tattoo culture, not for commercial gain, but to uphold the standards and creativity that inspire our work.

These rankings are protected as a form of editorial expression, built on principles of fair comment and public interest that allow organisations to recognise publicly known professionals based on merit, influence, and contribution. Because they are an editorial record, names are not altered or removed after publication. Each year’s list captures a moment in time, a reflection of the artists shaping the direction of modern tattooing.
